Why Faith Leaders Are Saying NO
This bill fails the moral test. It harms the very families we’re called to serve.
1. It makes it harder for parents to raise their children
This bill cuts the very tools parents rely on to build strong families—like the Child Tax Credit, Medicaid, and SNAP. These aren’t handouts—they’re pro-family policies that help moms and dads provide, care for, and raise their children with dignity. When Washington weakens these supports, it punishes work, responsibility, and the sacred duty of parenting.
2. It harms families who’ve played by the rules
Rather than fixing our broken immigration system, this bill throws money at enforcement-heavy tactics that split up law-abiding families who’ve put down roots, paid taxes, and contributed to their communities. That’s not border security—it’s instability. We need solutions that reflect both justice and compassion, rooted in the belief that every child deserves a safe, united home.
3. It undermines family opportunity and economic mobility
At a time when families are trying to move forward, this bill takes away key pathways to self-sufficiency. It weakens support for parents working hard to give their kids a better life, and it shifts the focus away from the family as the heart of a healthy economy. A pro-life, pro-America budget should strengthen—not sabotage—the foundations of opportunity.

Add your name to our prayer using the form below. We will make sure it's delivered to your representatives.
I write today not with political demands, but with a prayer.
A prayer for wisdom in your deliberations.
A prayer for courage to do what is right, not just what is easy.
A prayer that in the decisions you make, you remember the families who are counting on you.
As a person of faith, I believe that government should serve the common good. That it should strengthen — not strain — the hands of parents raising children. That it should honor the dignity of work and ensure every child, no matter their background, has a chance to thrive.
But the legislation before you now leaves too many behind. It removes support that help working families provide for their children. It creates fear for immigrant parents who’ve long contributed to this country. And it undermines the pathways that help families build a safe, peaceful, and prosperous future.
So I pray:
That you would reject any bill that weakens our families and our shared future.
That you would seek solutions rooted in compassion, justice, and common sense.
That you would remember that behind every policy are real people—real parents, real children, real dreams.
May God guide you, and may we all be faithful stewards of this moment.
Amen.
